Is the home furnished?
Yes. Common spaces are furnished with a fully equipped kitchen, coworking spaces and plenty of space to relax and engage in conversation when other roommates are free. Private bedrooms are furnished with a full-sized bed, sheets and blankets, a desk and chair, closet, and nightstand. Rooms do not have private bathrooms.
What amenities are included with the rent?
Rent includes access to facilities, basic kitchen utensils/flatware/tableware, and indoor common areas, desk spaces, musical instruments, etc. Once a month we clean all shared spaces, including kitchens, living rooms, and shared bathrooms.
How long is the lease?
The lease is flexible and can be negotiated; however, the shortest leases are typically 4-months.
How do you select residents?
To build a safe and comfortable community, all residents are vetted through an application process and background check. After their applications are approved, prospective housemates can schedule a meet and greet.
What do you look for in housemates?
We are committed to welcoming housemates from all backgrounds who are excited to live with others and build a community together. We typically conduct a background check as part of our application process.
What are the house rules and how are they decided?
The Chandlery has a set of rules and regulations already in place; however, housemates also successfully set out their own additional house rules for how they can best live together.
How private is the space?
All residents have their own private bedroom that can be locked. All residents respectfully share the kitchen, bathrooms, and furnished common areas.
Is smoking allowed in the home?
Smoking indoors is not allowed. Residents and their guests also may not engage in any illegal drug-related activity.
Are pets allowed?
We love pets -- but raising a pet in a shared space with the needs of diverse residents poses too many challenges to allow pets at the home. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.
Can couples apply?
While couples can apply, the home can only accommodate four residents by Urbana law. Therefore, couples would require the same rent as two solo members of the household.
How are disputes handled?
Working through conflict together can be one of the best ways to build relationships; housemates generally work out disputes on their own. However, in the rare case that residents have a severe dispute, management can help address the issue.
Are utilities included in the rental price?
The cost of some utilities is included in the rent. We streamline other utilities payments for your convenience. A single bill for all variable utilities (i.e. electricity, water, and gas) is split between residents and added to your monthly rent.
How do I apply?
The application process can be started by contacting us. After submitting your application, we've found that a phone interview is the most effective way to answer additional questions.
How many residents live in the house?
Although the Chandlery has five bedrooms, no more than four roommates share the house at any time, by Urbana law.

Single Room
Single private bedrooms are furnished with a full-sized bed, sheets and blankets, a desk and chair, closet, and nightstand. The single rooms do not have private bathrooms.
$950/MONTH
Salon Room
The salon room is the same as the single bedrooms. However, this room is nearly double the size, with an attached room that could be used as studio space or for other purposes. The salon room does not have a private bathroom.
