WHY THE CHANDLERY?
A Chandlery is a house of candles. Named after its original owner, Professor W. Chandler Bagley, the name is a nod to the home’s history and the enduring role of education in the neighborhood.
HISTORY OF THE CHANDLERY
Built in 1907, the house reflects the Craftsman style with influences of Tudor Revival architecture. Its distinctive features include gabled roofs, dark wood framing, a stone foundation and chimney, a large front porch, and a narrow porte cochère with exposed rafters. The Chandlery is designated as a local historic landmark.
